The UCSD Surplus Sales Store serves as an outlet to reutilize, liquidate, recycle and dispose
of excess university property. The surplus property can be viewed Monday through Friday
between 8:00am and 4:30pm. UCSD department buyers and
the general public are welcome to these viewings. All available items are tagged with lot
numbers for easy identification and can be viewed at our warehouse located midway between
the I-805 and I-15 freeways, just North of Miramar Road at 7835
Trade St. San Diego, CA. 92121 behind Ste. 100 (Northeast corner of the building). UCSD
Surplus Sales also offers recycling services to UCSD Departments for metals, electronics,
CRT / LCD monitors, and refrigeration equipment.
Public sales are conducted via a monthly sealed
bid process. A listing of the lots that are available for bid during this month can be viewed
on this site. The items are divided by category and listed alphabetically by description. Bid
sheets are available at the warehouse or online
in pdf format. Bids must be received by the last Wednesday of the month at 2pm Pacific time.
Bidders are encouraged to physically view the equipment, if possible. Successful bidders will be
notified by telephone following the bid closing. All property is sold “as-is, where-is”, and the
successful bidder will be responsible for payment and removal of the awarded lots within 7 days
of notification. Payment can be made by cash, cashier’s check, Credit/Debit card, money order or
traveler’s check. California sales tax will be applied to public sales unless reseller’s permit
documentation is provided. Please note that there is no warranty on any of the equipment sold at
the Surplus Sales store, and that all sales are final. The University does guarantee
that it holds legal title to any equipment being sold at the store. Office
furniture category items are not sold using the bid process, they are sold on a
“cash & carry” basis. For step-by-step instructions, see
how the public buys from Surplus Sales.
